Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Saleh Al-Dahsh, the Intellectual Awareness Unit at the College held an awareness lecture for the colleges students entitled "The phenomenon of traditional and digital drugs between challenges and treatment", which was held in the Lecture Hall of the College on Tuesday 28-1-2020. The lecture- delivered by Dr. Majid Al Otaibi- was attended by students from various academic departments of the College of Engineering, as well as faculty members from the academic departments and the heads of the relevant committees and units. The first topic of the lecture addressed the phenomenon of traditional and digital drugs, which is now spreading in some societies. In the second part of the lecture, the presenter addressed the negative effects of both traditional and digital drugs on the individual and society. Dr. Majid then talked about the motives for the individuals’ involvement in the traditional and digital drugs. He also discussed the ways to prevent individuals’ involvement from religious, moral, academic and cultural perspectives. In the fourth part, the lecturer addressed the treatment of traditional and digital drugs along with the services provided by the State to get rid of the poisonous scourge that is killing the individual and society. The lecture comes as part of a series of academic and educational workshops and lectures supervised by the Intellectual Awareness Unit at the College of Engineering aiming to educate students and faculty in all areas of community awareness. The students and faculty members at the College praised the educational lecture in raising awareness of the danger of this societal scourge and ways of treatment.
