ENGINEERING COLLEGE FRESHMEN INDUCTION DAY
Under the aegis of HE the Dean of the College of Engineering Dr. Abdullah Abdul Mohsin Al Abdul Karim the events of the Induction Day for freshmen took place on Tuesday 17/11/1436 H at 10:00 am. in the Engineering Club Hall at the College. The meeting was attended by the department heads, the Head of the Quality Center at the college, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Qawasmi , the head of the Student Activity Commission, Dr. Tariq Nabil and faculty members.The dean welcomed freshmen highlighting the college administration's happiness with the new comers motivating them equally to work harder and maintain an excellent record of attendance. He stressed the fact that students should come to class on time and study well, especially after the activation of the e-attendance system. Dr. AL Abdul Karim stressed that freshmen should choose the right specialization that matches their personality and consider predilection factors including the tendency of the student toward his major. The dean assured students that job opportunities are available in the local market for all engineering disciplines. Furthermore, he stressed the need for registering courses with the help of the academic advisor, which fact ensures students smooth progress in their study plan. In the end of his speech the dean emphasized that the doors of the administration are open for students in case they face problems unsolved during the normal academic procedures at college .The head of the Quality Center at the college, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Qawasmi made then a presentation on the main academic departments at the college, the sections of each department, along with the study plan needed for a bachelor's degree in engineering. The floor was then given to the head of the Student Activity Commission Dr. Tariq Nabil who explained in detail the extracurricular activities in the college, and their usefulness in strengthening ties between the student, his colleagues and the college and which positively affect the student's future personality as a successful engineer. Subsequently, the coordinators of the academic departments made an overview of academic disciplines in the College, the sub tracks in each major in addition to job opportunities of each sub-track. They also clarified to students some of the criteria they should follow upon completion of the courses of the Preparatory year in order to choose the right specialization in line with their academic inclination and professional orientation. Freshmen were given detailed brochures and student handbooks outlining all academic disciplines and Engineering training programs. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors went then in a free chat and exchanged information and advice on elements of success and excellence at the College. At the end of the meeting, the Dean expressed his appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of the induction day, and called for everyone to continue participating in coming events for the benefit of the College and students.
