Orientation Day for New Faculty Members at College of Engineering

Under the patronage of the dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Saleh Al-Dahsh, an orientation day was held by the Vice-Dean’s Offices for faculty members who recently joined the college. Welcoming new faculty members, the Vice-Dean for Development and Quality, Dr. Abdullah Al-Muheysen, pointed out that faculty members are obligated to apply academic quality standards in their teaching, an act that would pay dividend on both faculty members and students. The Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sadwoni addressed the vital role of faculty members and the tasks that should be accomplished to ensure the success of the educational process. Dr. Al-Sadwoni also talked about the importance and benefits of academic advising to students. The Coordinator of Academic Accreditation Unit, Dr. Abdelrahman Al-Qawasmi, highlighted the importance of ‘awareness list’ which includes a detail of faculty members’ rights and duties at MU. Emphasizing the significance of quality in academic work, Dr. Al-Qawasmi elaborated on the elements of academic quality elements, learning outcomes and the methods of writing annual reports of academic quality. The Coordinator of Academic Advising Unit, Dr. Ahmed Jalal dedicated his talk on the importance of academic advising and its best practices for faculty members as well as the method of filling out forms. The new faculty members commended the underlying of the workshop for the development of their skills in

academia which would have an impact on their performance.
