20250804812The Student Activity Unit at the Engineering College organized on Monday a scientific trip for mechanical and industrial engineering department students to Sudair Industrial City.
The aim of the trip is to introduce students to practical applications of mechanical and industrial projects, explaining some theoretical aspects in three courses: fundamental of engineering technology, manufacturing processes and CNC machining.
Kumait Glass Factory was the first destination of the trip where students learned about the processes of glass recycling using the latest modern computers with digital control to perform all glass works such as cutting glass in precise sizes, galvanizing the glass and cleaning the glass accurately.
The students were also briefed on the processes of lifting the hardness of glass by using computerized electronic oven to ensure it won’t break into small harmful pieces when breaking.
Students then visited “Alloy Factory” where they briefed about the stages of cutting the two kinds of raw iron: metal bars and coils with high quality and international standard specifications. This are used to manufacture "alkanes" in diameters ranging from 8-20 mm to be used in construction and civil engineering projects.
The students expressed their gratitude with the benefits gained from this scientific trip.
The supervisor of the student activity unit extended his thanks to the Dean, Dr. Abdullah Al-Abdelkareem and the managements of both Kumait Glass Factory and Alloy Factory.
