& The 3rd Annual Exhibition of Scientific Research of the students of College of Engineering
Under the patronage of His Excellency, The Rector, Dr.Khalid Bin Saad Al-Muqrin, Day of college of engineering and 3rd annual exhibition of scientific research for the students of college of engineering was held on Wednesday 23-04-2014 (23-06-1435 AH).The event was organized on the theater of Al-Majmaah University campus.
The event started with the recitation of Verses from the Holy Quran. Then His Excellency, Dean of the college of engineering, Dr. Muhammed Al Salamah, addressed to the attendees, describing the most important achievements and successes during a single year in the college, appreciating the efforts of the university administration for these achievements under the supervision of His Excellency, the Rector.
His Excellency, the Dean of college, furthermore, said that the continuous efforts in the college are leading to the new horizons of success and achievements. The success achieved in the current year is directed by the world of competitions, experiences and achievements. These efforts will continue to achieve the rest of goals in the soon.
His Excellency, also mentioned that the success and achievements are distributed among different aspects such as teaching, scientific research, academics etc.

Establishment of The College Council of Advisors:
A council of the advisors is established, which consists of experienced and qualified consultants to advise the college and also students for their interests before and after their graduation.

Formation of Advisory Council of the Students:
An advisory council of the students of the college of engineering is established. The members of this council were selected by elections.

Opening of New Academic Department (Department of Systems Engineering and Mechatronics):
The college of engineering officially announced and opened registration for students in the Department of Systems Engineering and Mechatronics.

Registrations of Three New Patents By Students of College:
Three new patents for the students of college of engineering were officially registered in the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.

Strategic Partnership with Leading Universities:
The College of Engineering has established strategic partnership with the leading international universities as one of the achievements. The purpose of these partnerships is to take advantages and benefits from the experience of the colleges of engineering in these universities.

Training Courses for Students of the College:
Various training courses were offered and introduced for students of the college. These training courses included the practical training on different softwares which are helpful in practical engineering fields.

Guidance for Students of Preparatory Year Program:
Students of preparatory year program who intend to enter the college of engineering are guided for the right and appropriate selection of their interested field of engineering.

Public Role in Engineering Education:
A scientific study was prepared by the college administration under the title (Our major role in the engineering education). Detailed analysis for the achievements of the top ten colleges of engineering in the world. The study concluded the following results:

The focus of these colleges on the scientific research in the laboratories of colleges.

The focus on creating and developing "specialized laboratories" to be specialized in some specific fields of engineering more than the multi-use laboratories.

Students of colleges of engineering should be trained to be self-confident to look for information by themselves and should have the approach to get their goals regarding that.
His Excellency mentioned the future strategic plans which will lead the current success to the new horizons. These plans include the following:

New specialized laboratories will be established for some specific and specialized engineering fields so that the students could apply more specified engineering studies and researches in specialized engineering fields. Funds for such kind of laboratories could be used from inside the university or by outside funding like from The National Plan for the Development and Innovations Program, which will strengthen the partnership with the public and private sectors.

The creation of a new academic course in the college titled "Scientific Research" for students in all departments in the college, which will be a mandatory course later.

Additional patents from students in the college will be registered every year in the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.
After the completion of the speech of His Excellency, The Dean of the college welcomed the secretary general of the Saudi Council for Engineers (SCE), as he is a member of the council of advisors in the college, His Excellency, Dr.Ghazi Abbas, to address to the attendees.
His Excellency, Dr. Abbas, explained the favors and assistance that the (SCE) offers for the engineers. By further leading to his speech, he spoke about the role of (SCE) in raising the performance and level for engineers for more achievements in all engineering fields. He also talked about raising the quality of university education, engineering trainings, courses and developments, besides, organizing the scientific researches, conferences and workshops.
Then His Excellency, the Rector of the University, Dr.Khalid Bin Saad Al Muqrin, addressed to the attendees. His Excellency appreciated the performance of college of engineering under the leadership of His Excellency, The Dean of College. He added that the challenges that face the college were great but the ambitious and hardworking team of college of engineering made these challenges achievable. He further said that the performance of the college of engineering is really appreciable and visible, and the college should continue its performance with more efforts and cooperation. He said that the students of the university should be empowered with practical skills and approaches, such elements are of more importance.
Then, His Excellency, The Rector, presented a University Shield to the Secretary General of Saudi Council of Engineers, Dr. Ghazi Abbas for providing cooperation, efforts and consulting facilities to the college of engineering and for the university.
After that, His Excellency, the Rector, has distributed the certificates among the graduates on the completion of the training course titled (Applications of AutoCAD Software). The student Muhammad Al-Rashidi received the certificates.
At the end, His Excellency, The Rector inaugurated the 3rd annual exhibition for the scientific research of the college of engineering. Different projects of the students from Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering Departments were exhibited there. His Excellency, The Rector visited and observed all the projects in the exhibition, listened to the students talking about their projects, inventions and innovations whose patents were officially registered, and about the benefits and advantages of these innovations for the nation and society.
