The Applied College held its first meeting to activate the trilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) and the National Industry Academy. The meeting was attended by representatives from all three parties to strengthen cooperation in qualifying national students to meet the demands of the industrial labor market.
This meeting strives to link the academy's outputs with the requirements of industrial development in the Kingdom in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
During the meeting, the mechanisms for implementing the agreement’s terms were discussed including developing academic programs that meet the market needs, conducting field training opportunities, and supporting industrial entrepreneurship by offering business incubators for students interested in establishing innovative industrial projects. They also discussed how to organize workshops and specialized seminars to enhance students' and graduates' knowledge and expertise.
Dr. Shadi Al-Shuwayer, the CEO of the Applied College, pointed out that the college is committed to developing educational and training pathways to prepare a generation of professionals qualified to enter the industrial labor market efficiently, benefiting from MODON’s experience in managing industrial zones.
MODON representatives stated that this partnership reflects the authority's commitment to supporting educational programs that serve the industrial sector. Creating comprehensive industrial environment goes beyond factories and infrastructure. It extends to investing in human capital through continuous training and qualification.
Representatives from the National Industry Academy also indicated that the MoU will help in birding the gap of communication between academic institutions and the industrial sector, offering students specialized training programs that enhance their readiness for the labor market and increase their employment opportunities in national industrial establishments.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to develop specific executive plans to begin implementing the agreement's terms, with clear roles and responsibilities assigned to each party.
