Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs leads internal audit team to College of Engineering

An internal audit team from the Deanship of Quality and Skills Development, led by the vice-rector for Educational Affairs, Dr. Mohammed al-Oboudi, paid a visit on Wednesday to the College of Engineering to evaluate its readiness for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The team consists of: Dr. Tawfiq al-Medeyhim, vice-dean, Dr. Bashayer al-Rumaih, vice-dean at female campus, Dr. Mutawli Bedayer, advisor of the deanship, and Dr. Mohammed abu-Amer, inspector of labs. The team was welcomed by the dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Saleh al-Dahsh, in the presence of vice-deans, heads of departments and quality unit members and coordinators at the college. Commending the efforts exerted by the internal audit team, Dr. al-Dahsh pointed out that the college is highly committed to ABET’s standards, that is quality and academic accreditation becomes an integral part of all activities at the college. In an inspection tour to the college’s quality unit, the dean briefed the team about the unit and its preparations for academic accreditation. The team also visited the other facilities of the college, including classrooms, labs, faculty’s office, activity rooms to ensure they are up to academic accreditation standards. The team then conducted a meeting with the supervisors and members of laboratory’s committees in all departments to discuss issues related to the extent to which these labs are committed to accreditation standards. At the end of the visit, the team provided an initial verbal report and feedback to the college about its readiness in applying ABET’s standards; a detailed report will be submitted later.
