An event was organized by the Volunteer Work Center at the Social Responsibility Observatory to educate the university staff about the importance of seasonal Influenza vaccine. The event - launched by Prof. Al-Dosari, the advisor and supervisor of administrative, financial and technical affairs, was held in cooperation with the Medical Center and health colleges. 

Dr. Faisal Al-Mutairi, the supervisor of Social Responsibility Observatory, pointed out that such events are conducted at the request of MU rector to open up to the community and to achieve the goals set for the health field.

MU rector, Prof. Saleh Al-Mizil, received a report on the development of the university medical center and its medical equipment. The report included having a number of modern facilities that contribute to providing high-quality diagnostic services. This achievement was made possible by coordinating with the Ministry of Health to end the procedures of  supplying equipment.

Prof. Al-Mizil commended the dedicated committees at the Ministry of Health for their tremendous efforts and continuous follow-up in order to fulfill all the requirements for approval. He also expressed his gratitude to the university's team for their efforts to overcome all difficulties to achieve the university's goals of serving its staff and the surrounding community.

Based on the development directions and in line with the plan of the University Center for Medical Rehabilitation Technologies and Prosthetics, and the great development the world is witnessing in the field of manufacturing prostheses, and in pursuit of the Center's Board of Directors in providing health services with high efficiency in cooperation with international and regional expertise, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Musallam bin Muhammad Al-Dosari, signed a cooperation agreement with Mobilbs Company for the manufacture of medical supplies, represented by the Director General, Mr. Makram Tabib, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where this agreement includes joint cooperation in the field of prosthetic manufacturing, the field of training and localization of knowledge, and the field of scientific research.

During the visit, the center's team toured the factory of Mobilbs Company, during which they listened to an explanation of the stages of manufacturing prostheses, and to learn about the latest devices and modern technologies used in this field.

For his part, His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors expressed his admiration for the great capabilities he saw, which would provide a great addition to the beneficiaries of the center through the use of the latest technologies, appreciating His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Mizil, for the great support that the center enjoys in order to provide quality and distinguished services.

In a new achievement added to many of the achievements made by the university, a research team led by Dr. Wael Al-Tariqi - Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the College of Applied Medical Sciences and a specialist in immunology - published a scientific research that proved a relationship between the admission of Corona patients to intensive care and the production of a number of immune proteins in response to the inflammatory condition due to infection with the emerging coronavirus-2, which causes COVID-19.

Dr. Wael Al-Tariqi stated that this study may enable doctors to predict the dissatisfaction of the patient's condition and his need for intensive care when the levels of these types of immune proteins rise, and then we can predict the course of the disease and give immune drugs as one of the proactive solutions, indicating Dr. Al-Tariqi - the first researcher - that this paper is the first for his scientific team that was accepted for publication in one of the 45-year-old The Cell magazines, and that the university's name is mentioned in the prestigious journals No doubt it is a source of pride and pleasure.

Dr. Al-Tariqi added that this study was an extension of the results of the master's student in the Department of Laboratories Saad Al-Omari, and was the result of fruitful cooperation between the university and both: Riyadh Health Cluster II, King Saud University, Prince Sattam University, and from outside the Kingdom University of Florida, and the University of Liverpool.

For his part, Dr. Al-Tariqi thanked His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Mizil, for the continuous and unlimited support, and to the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Rumaih, and to the Deanship of Scientific Research, and His Excellency the Dean of the College and Head of the Department.

A medical team from the College of Medicine at the university, in cooperation with King Khalid Hospital in Majmaah Governorate, succeeded in performing the first bronchoscopy operation in children, when the medical team performed a respiratory endoscope for a 13-year-old girl, suffering from chronic cough and frequent lung infections that required her frequent hypnosis in many hospitals in the Riyadh region.

Regarding the details of the endoscope, the head of the medical team, Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Olayan, Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Consultant Pediatric Pulmonology, said that a flexible bronchoscopy was performed under general anesthesia, where the bronchi and the lobes of the lungs were examined, in which it was found that there were large amounts of mucous secretions in the lower lobe of the left lung, which led to the closure of the entire lobe, and it was dealt with by injecting saline solution (sodium chloride) in the areas closed with mucous secretions, followed by the withdrawal of all those secretions, which It opened the locked lobes, and a sample was sent for laboratory testing.

This has been excluded the presence of any birth defects, bleeding, or other infections, or foreign swallowed bodies in the bronchi and lobes of the lungs, where there were no complications during the work of the endoscope, praise be to God, and the child left the hospital the next day in excellent health after the treatment plan was developed for her.

This operation is the first of its kind in the region and neighboring governorates, and was carried out - praise be to God - under specialized medical supervision with the participation of anesthesia consultant Dr. Muhammad bin Saad Al-Buqami, anesthesia consultant Dr. Kamel Ibrahim, anesthesiologist Dr. Faris Suleiman Al-Dubaikhi, and respiratory therapist Aisha Al-Haim.

The University Holds the World Physical Therapy Day in Cooperation with King Khalid Hospital in Majmaah

The Department of Physical Therapy at the College of Applied Medical Sciences in cooperation with King Khalid Hospital in Majmaah held the event of the World Physical Therapy Day in Majmaah Mall, as this event comes within the university's programs in the service of the community and the individual, and the opening was attended by Dr. Majid Al-Omari - Vice Dean of Training and Clinical Affairs at the College - on behalf of the Dean of the College, and Dr. Shadi Al-Shuwaier, Chairman of the Community Service Committee in the Department of Physical Therapy, and the department participated in four main axes in this event, namely: Sports injuries, risk of falls in the elderly, low back pain, foot problems.

Where the visitors were received and answered their inquiries by a number of faculty members in the department, namely: Dr. Shadi Al-Shuwaier, Professor: Rada Krishnan, and Professor: Nayef Al-Rashidi, in addition to the presence of some students of the department, and during this event some medical examinations were made, and a number of educational leaflets were distributed to visitors, and give them some necessary advice to avoid sports injuries, low back pain and foot pain.

On the other hand, the Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Tuwaijri Chair for Applied Research for Stroke Cases had participated in this event, and the participation included the establishment of a pavilion in the exhibition accompanying the event prepared by the Chair Department by providing awareness leaflets, health booklets, the products of the chair and its versions of scientific books to spread more awareness about stroke disease, as well as measuring the percentage of oxygen in the blood, and the attendees were briefed on the contents of the pavilion and the introductory panels that highlight the achievements of the chair and its community activities.

His Excellency the supervisor of the chair, Dr. Raed bin Salim Al-Baradei, praised the support and guidance that the chair finds from His Excellency the President of the University, Dr. Khalid bin Saad Al-Muqrin, His Excellency the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, and His Excellency the Director of the Research Chairs Department, Dr. Thamer bin Shleih Al-Harbi, and to communicate the objectives of the chair with the needs of the local community through meaningful participations, and community partnerships with the competent authorities.

In implementation of the direction of the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Majmaah University to activate community partnership and expand bridges of communication and cooperation with the relevant health authorities, and under the patronage of His Excellency the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Nasser bin Ali Al-Jarallah, a delegation from the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Majmaah University visited King Faisal Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh on Tuesday 2014/10/30 to learn about the resources available in the various departments of medical laboratories in the hospital. This visit provided the possibility of searching for partners for cooperation in addition to many ways on how to conclude a cooperation agreement between the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Majmaah University and King Faisal Hospital, in order to open the way for distinguished training opportunities for university students and qualify them to compete in the labor market and cooperation in the field of scientific research for teachers and students. The delegation was received by the Head of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Dr. Sayed Dayel, and he welcomed His Excellency Dr. Raed bin Suleiman ElBaradei, Vice Dean of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the accompanying delegation, consisting of faculty members in the Department of Medical Laboratories. During the meeting, they discussed ways of cooperation between the college and the hospital, and the future vision was shed on the possibility of benefiting from the resources available in the hospital so that the college students have more excellent training opportunities. After that, the delegation toured the various departments of the medical laboratory and listened to a brief explanation of some specialists about the devices available in these departments. At the end of the visit, and on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty, the head of the delegation, Dr. Raed Baradei, thanked His Excellency the Head of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the team of the departments of laboratory medicine for their hospitality and welcome.
