Deanship Quality and Skills Development Team at the College of
Science and Humanities in Houtah Sudair
In keeping with the College of Science and Humanities in Houtah Sudair tradition in hosting leaders and deans to consult on all that would promote the college resources in almost all areas, including: education, community, development, and electronicc, the college dean Dr. Tarek Bin Sulaiman Albahlal, hosted this time the Dean of the Quality and Skills Development Deanship Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Jarallah, and his accompanying delegation. The goal of the meeting was to educate the College employees-both men and women-on the tasks and achievements of the Deanship Quality and Skills Development, together with its remarks regarding the university colleges as the annual report prepared by the end of each year should show, including that of the College of Science and Humanities in Houtah Sudair.
The meeting took place on Monday,: 23/04/1434 H, at the VIP Hall in the university students' building and was managed by Dr. / Omar bin Salem Al Saidi, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, who welcomed His Excellency Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Jarallah, the dean of the Quality and Skills Development Deanship who in his turn dealt with a number of important points during the meeting which are as follows:
First: The organizational structure of the Deanship of quality
HE the Dean reminded the audience that the Deanship’s achievements were various and varied, which was clear through the following points:
- Providing seventy training programs for the university employees
- Providing training in all branches of the university centers through the development of a mechanism and access criteria to internal and external training programs
- Organizing workshops for academic leaders at the Majmaah University in coordination with the Center for Academic Leadership in the Ministry of Higher Education.
- Creating a technical support department which seeks to communicate with colleges on the compilation of remarks and to work to resolve them through the quality Deanship, as a matter of organization.
- Cooperation with some of the university colleges in order to establish programs to develop its employees skills.
Second: The future aspirations in the area of skills development
His Excellency the Dean of the Quality Deanship pointed to the number of important things which the Deanship is keen to meet in the future, including:
-Launching a training package for each college of the university colleges.
-Rehabilitating trainers from within the university, rather than relying on bringing coaches from other sectors.
- Providing for electronic programs.
-Preparing and launching the electronic registration system for training.
Third: Launching of institutional self-evaluation project
In this aspect, the Dean of the Quality Deanship briefed the audience on a mechanism to measure the colleges’ performance through a number of tools and standards monitored and prepared by the Quality Committee at the deanship, including:
-Setting up a committee composed of a number of supporting deans as an assisting evaluation committee of colleges.
-Preparing a guide for annual reports, events for colleges, and supporting deanships. Three editions have already been issued under the name: the quality pulse.
-The Quality Deanship launch proposed a committee named: Quality and Excellence Award.
Fourth: Remarks on the performance of the College of Science and Humanities in Houtah Sudair
His Excellency the Dean of the Quality and Skills Development Deanship praised the college’s overall performance in some aspects, including:
-A college strategic plan
- An academic advising guide
- His Excellency expressed his satisfaction about some points that should help improve the quality center performance which includes the need to document all the quality meetings and activities at the college, the need to speed up completing course descriptions tasks, and setting up clear and accredited mechanisms for the college quality committees.
At the end of his speech the Dean of Quality Deanship, Dr.: Tariq ibn Suleiman Albouhlal, the College Dean, thanked the quality team for honoring the college, and noted that he was confident about the abilities and qualifications of faculty members to advance the college’s reputation to the required level, as the quality section’s objectives are to improve our academic and administrative tasks. HE also stated that in the last period there has been a boom in the multiplicity of educational buildings of the male and female sections alike. Moreover, the college’s services map was activated, which included the organization manual issued by the college Administrative Development Committee as well as the student academic advising guide which is a complementary guide to the college academic counseling unit that helps understand the students’ concerns.
Before the end of the meeting HE Dr. Omar Bin Salem Al Saidi, Vice Dean, moderated a dialogue between faculty members-men and women- and HE the Dean of the Quality Deanship who answered all their questions in a friendly atmosphere that helped promote the academic and management process at the Majmaah University in order to be adopted in the academic evaluation and accreditation.
