There is no doubt the pandemic (Covid-19) has had an adverse impact on the globe. Saudi Arabia is no exception as several sectors were disastrously affected, particularly the higher education which has seen a shutdown of all institutional educations in the face of students and teachers.

The awareness of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Crown Prince of the importance of education, however, has played a significant role in minimizing the appalling impact on education through the proper utilization of modern technology to have distance classes. Thanks to the Kingdom’s vision 2030 which allows the Ministry of Education to deal with this pandemic flexibly.

The reports and statistics showed by the e-learning system and the College of Education in Majmaah reflect the capacity of the university, not only in facilitating the educational process, but also and most importantly in maintain a high-quality of practices. That is attributed primarily to the university third strategic plan and the college’s plan.

The Department of Biology at the College of Education in Majmaah has also contributed immensely during the pandemic by activating e-learning platforms and online tests. Not to mention the department’s active and vital role in educating the public about the pandemic and the precautionary measure implemented at the college.

Given the fact that development is an ongoing process, the Department of Biology, supported by the college and its vice-dean’s offices, aspires to restructure the department to match the college’s vision and mission.

Finally, I would like to extend my thanks to college, vice-dean’s offices as well as faculty members and staff in our department for their efforts in serving students at best.

Head of Biology Department

Dr. Jawaher al-Uhaydeb
