Saudi International Conference for Medical Laboratories

The activities of the Saudi International Conference for Medical Laboratories, held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, concluded on Wednesday, October 11. A group of experts and speakers participated in the conference under the supervision of the Saudi Society for Medical Allergies, MU. 
In a speech by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Kathiri, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Society for Medical Allergies and the conference supervisor, he commended the support of MU's rector, Prof. Al-Mezal, and the follow-up of the Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Ahmed Al-Rumaih, to make this conference a successful event.

The first day featured a session by the Saudi Society for Clinical Chemistry entitled “Advanced Quality in Clinical Laboratories.” The Saudi Society for Clinical Laboratory Sciences held a session on the second day entitled “Defeating Tuberculosis”.
The conference extended for three days and witnessed 24 speakers who delivered 28 scientific lectures and workshops as a platform for exchanging experiences and information and enhancing cooperation among specialists in the health field at the local and international levels.

The conference also addressed challenges and opportunities in the medical laboratory sector and presented state-of-the-art research and practices in this field, with the participation of a number of Saudi and international consultants and specialists.
At the end of the conference, certificates of thanks and memorial shields were awarded to those who contributed to the success of the conferenceز

More than 200 health practitioners specializing in the field of medical laboratories were granted 19 scientific hours accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties in recognition of their participation in the scientific program of the conference.

The conference concluded with several recommendations including giving priority to quality assurance in handling samples and analyzing data in clinical laboratories, progress in diagnosing and treating tuberculosis, innovations in combating antibiotic resistance, and the critical role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in improving the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment planning, reducing the possibility of errors in diagnostic processes before and after a clinical trial, and ethical considerations and applications of medical ethics.
