The Vice-Rector’s Office for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research is pleased to announce that one of the graduate studies has received the research grant of Research and Development Funding Initiative organized by King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (Scholarship). The initiative is one of the national initiatives launched King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The title of the research proposal, submitted to graduate studies track, (MA) is “Wavelet-based Semblance”.
The research was written by the student Abdelrahman Al-Hayder under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Iskander.
The research aims to analyze the relationship between the dynamics of walking pattern in Parkinson's patients to examine and evaluate the progression and severity of the disease by indicating the strength of the vertical ground reaction obtained from the feet. This analysis is very important in the examination and identification of Parkinson's disease because it helps doctors to assess and diagnose the condition through normal walking. Signal processing and dual signal construction are performed by artificial intelligence which makes diagnosis easy.
The Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research extended congratulated the research team this achievement as the first group of students to receive an external research grant and encouraged them to exert further efforts to make the university distinctive in the field of research.
The vice-rector also made a reference to the support that scientific research gets from the government in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
