A Workshop entitled “ Characteristics of Examination and Learning Outcomes”

The Vice-Dean’s Office for Educational Affairs, represented by Timetable and Examination Unit at female campus conducted a workshop entitled “ Characteristics of Examination and Learning Outcomes”. The workshop was presented by Dr. Nahed Othman on Monday and addressed the following themes:

1. What is meant by learning-based outcomes?

2. Difference between learning outcomes and goals

3. Fields of learning outcomes based on the National Commission for Academic Accreditation

4. Consistency between the outcomes of educational programs and the learning outcomes for national framework

5. How to formulate the learning outcomes for a course

6. Creating exams in light of learning outcomes (concept and steps of designing exam )

7. Consistency between examination formula on one hand, and the learning outcomes and possibility of assessment and measurement of outcomes on the other hand.

The objectives of the workshop are :

1. To introduce the concept learning-based outcomes

2. To highlight the relationship between learning outcomes and learning process

3. Recognize the best way of drafting the learning outcomes for courses based on the requirements of National Commission for Academic Accreditation

4. Explain the strategies used to evaluate students’ achievements

5. discuss the questions related to quality assurance of examination particularly the one related to learning outcomes measurement based on the 3rd standard of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation

6. Introduce the characteristics of good exam and how to design it for better evaluation of learning outcomes.
